Great for Destination Weddings, Honeymoons, Groups, and Couples
So you are ready to kick back, have a thirst-quenching umbrella drink, soak up the sun, and enjoy everything you get from an all-inclusive resort. Right? Right!
You know there is a but coming. All-inclusive resorts are amazing and a great place for individuals, couples, groups, and, of course, amazing for destination weddings.... here it comes....but... make sure you get the most out of it and choose the right one for your style. Here are some key concepts to make your next all-inclusive vacation a memorable one.
Destinations and Options
Many people end up at an all-inclusive because it is an easy choice, especially for groups and it may well be!. However, before you proceed with booking, take the time to consider what you like to do on vacation. Are you adventurous? Do you like water sports or would you rather hike? Do you want to see unique animals or just cuddle up in the room and on the beach? Adults only? Family oriented? Couples only? These are all pieces of the vacation puzzle that will help you choose the right destination and then the right type of resort.
Offering and Price
All-Inclusive resorts come in all shapes, sizes, and prices. The package prices may seem high at first but remember food and drink are included as well as some other offerings like
watersports or walks, self-guided tours, etc. So I'm not much of a drinker but do love the occasional umbrella drink or drink-of-the-day. But trying to save money by choosing a European plan for that reason may not be the right choice. Prices will be high for a la carte food and drink so keep that in mind. Take all that is offered into consideration before you back away from an all-inclusive, you may be surprised at the value.
However, if you plan on exploring the area, spending little time at the resort, and not eating or drinking there, this may be a good option for you.
Aruba is known for a variety of cuisines and both all-inclusive and resort stays are great here.
Staying Healthy
Unlimited food and alcohol can catch up with the best of us. They certainly have their pluses and minuses. Be careful not to overdo it, and it is very easy to overdo it, so you can enjoy all the resort has to offer, besides your bed and the porcelain god.
Everything Is Included or Is it?
All-Inclusive, it's in the name so it must be true. Well, yes and no. However, all-inclusive resorts include a lot but rates vary and so does what they include. Transportation, tipping, sports, and top-shelf drinks may or may not be included. The spa usually has a charge for services but may be included in some room categories or resorts. Review what is included before booking.
Know That Things Happen
With any stay, anywhere, anytime, things can happen. Bad weather, lost luggage, wind, seaweed. You can choose to allow it ruin your trip or you can understand that sometimes as much planning as you do, things happen. Tell the front desk if it is something in their control and they will work to help rectify it. Fair warning, they have no control of seaweed and yes, it smells. However, a good travel agent can tell you the best time to avoid it.
Try Some Local Flavor
It is so tempting to just stay on property, and depending on where you are, sometimes it is the best choice, but many times there is much to see outside the resort. Experience the local culture, try local cuisine at a recommended restaurant, visit a museum, ancient ruins, or the downtown area. Even if you don't leave the resort try some new food and drink from the region you are visiting.
Always ask and find out if a tour is your best option for this and check the safety of an area before proceeding on your own.
Get What you Pay For
This may be obvious, but you're paying for an all-inclusive vacation for a reason: There's a lot included so make sure you know what the resort includes in the rate, and plan to make use of all the perks. Maybe you have poolside piña colada deliveries, sailing lessons, snorkel gear, mini golf, or private island cabanas. You paid for it, use it.
Destination Weddings
All-Inclusive resorts are a great place for a destination wedding. They are less expensive, have a lot to offer, and make a great vacation. Your guests get to go to a tropical location, share in your magical day, and can take a mini, or longer vacation at group rates. What's not to love?
Ask for Help
Travel advisors book all-inclusive resorts every day and can clear the clutter for you and help you narrow down where to go and the best way for you to meet your travel needs. Ask for help with the process from the people that have the connections, know the area, and can find answers to those burning questions.
