Castles and Manors in Northwest Ireland

Day 1:  Arrival in Ireland

 

Private Transfer to Dublin Hotel

Welcome to Ireland! After landing at Dublin Airport, complete customs and immigration formalities. A private transfer will escort you and your luggage to the hotel.

 

Dublin at Leisure

The entire day is free to relax or sightsee and explore Dublin. There are plenty of museums of Irish interest such as the National Museum, the National Gallery or the Writers Museum. There are also plenty of shops along Nassau Street and the pedestrianized Grafton Street or Henry Street. You may like to explore Temple Bar or visit some of the traditional pubs. In the evening you are free to choose from one of the traditional or modern dinner venues located within the city.

 

Overnight Stay: Dylan Hotel, Dublin

Situated near the Grand Canal, this upscale boutique hotel offers modern design just outside of the hustle of Dublin’s many popular attractions. Try dining at Tavern, the hotel’s restaurant, for locally sourced, seasonal dishes.

Day 2: KILBEGGAN DISTILLERY & KILRONAN

 

Meet Private Driver

Today your private driver services start. Meet your private driver in the lobby of your hotel at 9:00 AM this morning. Enjoy your comfortable ride with your knowledgeable driver who will guide you through the popular and hidden gems of Ireland.

 

Kilbeggan Distillery Experience

Continue towards Kilbeggan to visit the Kilbeggan Distillery, which was established in 1757 and is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in the world. Enjoy a tour and tasting of the finished product.

 

Kilronan Castle at Leisure

Spend the later afternoon free to enjoy Kilronan Castle. You might be interested in using the spa on your own, which is dedicated to offering the ultimate in luxury pampering treatments. Or perhaps you may enjoy taking in a leisurely walk around the magnificent estate. There is also the leisure club, golfing, biking and sailing available to the hotel guests at an additional cost.

Overnight: Kilronan Castle, Ballyfarnon

Day 3 :SLIGO SIGHTSEEING & MOUNT FALCON

 

County Sligo Drive

Take an awe-inspiring drive through County Sligo, passing Ben Bulben, a large rock formation that has a table top appearance. Benbulbin or Benbulben is an anglicisation of the Irish name Binn Ghulbain which means peak (Binn) of Conall Gulban (Ghulbain) who was a son of Niall of the Nine Hostages. This mountain is part of the Dartry Mountains in an area sometimes called "Yeats Country" after W.B. Yeats the famous writer and poet.

 

Glencar Waterfall

Visit Glencar Waterfall and enjoy this beautiful scenery. The waterfall is 50 feet high and situated in Glencar Lough. It was inspiration to William Butler Yeats and featured in his poem ‘The Stolen Child’.

 

2 Night Stay: Mount Falcon Estate, Ballina

Day 4: ACHILL ISLAND DAY TRIP

Achill Island Tour

Set off around Clew Bay, through Newport, and along Curraun Peninsula to reach Achill Island, joined to the mainland by a bridge. Follow the Atlantic Drive to capture wonderful and wild scenic views of steeply sloped mountains plunging into the shimmering Atlantic Ocean.

 

Day 5: CONNEMARA HIGHLIGHTS

Connemara Sightseeing

Travel through Connemara Region to admire the sweeping views of boglands and misty mountains. As you drive along you will see many sheep that graze freely and also tracts of bogland where some people hand-cut peat for home heating. Follow the scenic Sky Road to the attractive village of Clifden.

 

Kylemore Abbey

Stop at Kylemore Abbey for a tour of the elegant mansion and church, set beside a tranquil lake. Learn of the tales of tragedy, romance and royal visits. Also walk through the magical Victorian walled garden.

Overnight: Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, Ballynahinch

Set in a private 450 acre estate of woodland, this authentic Castle Hotel stands proudly overlooking its famous salmon fishery, with a backdrop of the beautiful 12 Bens Mountain range. All the hotel rooms in the castle are finished to an exceptionally high standard and all superior and luxury rooms have stunning views across river and woodlands.

Day 6: GALWAY & WESTMEATH

 

Galway Panoramic

Continue to Galway and embark on a panoramic tour to see the principal sights of the city. See the Spanish Arch in the Claddagh area, the City Museum and the Cathedral of Our Lady, which is built on the site of the former county jail.

 

Overnight: Wineport Lodge, Athlone

Hidden on the quiet, picturesque shores of Lough Ree, stay in the Wineport Lodge where luxury and comfort comes wrapped in easy humour and effortless hospitality. While you are here, enjoy fresh and local dining or relax and be pampered in one of the tranquil treatment suites.

Day 7: DEPART DUBLIN
